The Paris Exhibition Center
If you have planned to travel to Paris to go to the Paris Exhibition Center, here is some information that will give you a complete and unique view of your stay.
The origins of the Porte de Versailles
Exhibition center For a long time, exhibitions, and in particular the Paris Fair, were organized on the Champ-de-Mars. But in 1923, the beginnings of the Porte de Versailles exhibition center took shape between Paris, Vanves and Issy-les-Moulineaux, to host the various Parisian events. About twenty halls were then built on nearly 35 hectares, on the initiative of Marcel Dastugue and Paul Viard (there are only 4 left today).
Over the years and decades, the site underwent expansions and modifications, before being occupied by the military during the Second World War. Exhibitions gradually resumed in the 1950s, with the agricultural show, the boat show, the car show, the book fair, and even the Paris fair.
Modernization and restructuring of Paris Expo Porte de Versailles
Since 2013, the Parc des Expos has been the subject of a huge modernization program, to make the whole complex more functional, but also more responsible. Emphasis is placed on the urban integration of the site and the reduction of its environmental impact, but also on the establishment of a hotel accommodation program and an expansion of the premises.
Spread over 10 years, the modernization works coming to an end, and have been divided into several phases:
- The development of a reception square and a central aisle, the modernization of pavilion 7 and the refreshing of pavilion 1 ;
- The reconstruction of pavilion 6, the creation of two hotel establishments, the demolition of pavilion 9;
- The transformation of pavilions 2 and 3, and the creation of community gardens and a restaurant.
The objective is then to announce the end of the works before July 2024, in order to be able to host the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
